Welcome to our coffee retail department

Scroll down and click on the product you want, they are listed roughly according to strength of roast. You can specify exactly how much you would like and how you would like it ground. Later you will come to a special instructions box where you can specify blends, which green coffee origins you are selecting, or any other messages. The total is calculated at the end. The standard carriage charge is £4.50.

Organic and Fairtrade coffee

We offer coffees with both organic and Fairtrade certification where available. We are one of the UK's longest standing certified roasters, first getting an organic licence in 1991. Our coffees are organically certified by the Soil Association and audited by the Fairtrade Foundation.

Generous discounts for bulk buying

Spend over £25.00 to receive 7% off; £40.00 for 10% off; £60.00 for 15% off or £100.00 for 20% off. On top of this you always get a 40p per kg discount for buying unground coffee. The bulk discounts will be calculated after you move to checkout. You can normally mix your order and still get the discount. Many customers buy for friends too and order more often, but even if you stock up, with our fresh roasting and multilayer valve bags, you should be able to preserve the finest flavours well by storing in the fridge. Even months later your coffee will taste fresher than supermarket packs.

Arabica and Robusta

Many people dislike the taste of robusta in medium blends, so with the exception of Bargain Blend medium (up to 30% robusta) all our medium coffees are pure arabica. All our continental roast coffees are pure arabiuca too except Bragain Blend continental (up to 30% robusta), Continental (34% robusta) and Strong French (75% robusta). Please note especially that our decaffeintated is Fairtrade, organic and chemical free as well as being pure arabica.

These are the strongest roasts, with low acidity but a stronger flavour. They are often used in milkier coffee. Some people call this city roast. People who like medium roast coffee sometines find these cofees burnt tasting. Listed roughly in order of strength of roast

Italian Roast organic Fairtrade

For strong espresso, cappuccino, latte

Italian Roast

For strong espresso, cappuccino, latte

Monsooned Malabar

Unique Indian coffee on an Italian roast

Decaffeinated continental roast organic Fairtrade

High roast makes for a strong cafetiere or a delicious late night milky coffee

Full strength continental

Italian Roast with some robusta for extra body

Peru continental roast organic Fairtrade

Smooth and nutty, lightly continental

Strong French

Mostly robusta: can be bitter, but good with hot milk

Espresso Blend organic Fairtrade

Lightly continental: for medium strength espresso, cappucino or latte

BARGAIN BLEND

Mostly arabica, this mainly consists of slightly inaccurate roasts of our normal high quality organic Fairtrade coffees. Available in 1kg packs pre-ground.

These and continental roasts are the most popular. A medium strong roast has developed more flavour (and lost some of the creamy body) of medium coffee, but not yet reached the temperature which imparts the extra continental bite. It is most often drunk in cafetieres but many people use medium stong coffee for a milder espresso or stronger filter coffee. Listed roughly in order of strength of roast.

Kenya/Colombia blend

A classic flavour with a rich flavoursome liquor

Mexican organic Fairtrade

Strong and full flavoured, very fine

Bolivian organic Fairtrade

Very full fine flavour

Papua New Guinea organic Fairtrade

Excellent rich flavour, reminiscent of Kenyan.

Decaffeinated medium roast organic Fairtrade

Exceptionally smooth and fine flavour, you would never know it was decaf

Ethiopian Sidamo organic Fairtrade

A very fine Ethiopian coffee, very similar but not quite so rich as Ethiopian Yergacheffe.

Old Brown Java

Smooth flavour with exceptionally full body.

Sumatran Mandheling organic Fairtrade

Full Indonesian body permits a stronger roast without the normal thinner result

Colombian organic Fairtrade

Classic full spectrum, slightly nutty Colombian flavour. The organic Fairtrade Colombian is now back after a few months of being unobtainable

Brasilian Santos

A popular and familiar flavour, very smooth, recommended for blending.

Malawi

African coffee, with a thicker body giving a creamier flavour. Available from mid February 2011

Guatemala organic Fairtrade

Please note this is a new medium strong Guatemalan roast, we still offer the medium roast Guataemala blend in the medium section. Guatemalan coffee is considered some of the finest in Central America and this has a rich complex and slightly tangy aftertaste

Honduras organic Fairtrade

Honduras coffee could be called the Brasil of Central America; smooth with good body and a subtle, subdued flavour, ensuring that a cup of Honduras is palatable even when made strong.

Cuban

Update early March 2013. We apologise for the delays, this excellent flavoursome and rich coffee is very hard to get hold of and we just have to be patient with our suppliers. It is promised for the next delivery to our warehouse and should be on tap in mid to late March. If in doubt call the roastery on 0208 453 1144

Kenya Peaberry

Kenya with a strong and slightly nutty flavour

Ethiopian Yergacheffe organic Fairtrade

We are pleased to announce that we have at last managed to obtain an organic Fairtrade delivery from this legendary region of Ethiopia. It is likely to prove extremely popular and superior in quality to the non organic non Fairtrade version we have had in recent months.

Nicaraguan organic Fairtrade

Very fine, full flavoured Central American flavour with a tangy aftertaste. Note, March 2013: We regret that due to an ordering miuxup this popular and flavoursome coffee has not been available for the last few weeks. It will be back in stock from mid March. In the meanwhile you may wish to try the new Indian

Costa Rica

Regrettably the previous organic Fairtrade source is no longer available, so we have chosen this very fine coffee from the Tres Rios area as a substitute

Rwandan

This rich African coffee has complex but smooth flavours, one of the best African origins for those who find Kenyans and Tanzanians too tangy

Indian organic Fairtrade

This new coffee is one of our favorites. For those who like a very flavorsome, full, nearly continental medium strong roast this is perhaps even better than the Nicaraguan.

El Salvador organic Fairtrade

This new coffee is El Salvador at its best, a strong Central American flavour with more character than Mexican, if a touch less smooth

Peru Tunki organic Fairtrade

A special estate Peru, this coffee has the body and smoothmness of regular Peru but alos a tantalising flavour, with a light complex acidity

This is the traditional filter coffee, as drunk in the UK and places like Germany and Holland, with a more delicate flavour, a creamier body, and often more coffee used. People who do not like this sort of coffee can find it acidic or bitter. To make it a little stronger you can blend in some medium strong roast (maybe 1 part in 3) or even a small amount of continental roast (not more than 1 part in 4). These coffees are roughly the same strength, none are mild. Please note the Gerson coffee is exceptionally mild and sold ONLY for medicinal purposes. It is supplied in 1kg packs of a standard medium fine grind

Kenya Blue Mountain

Kenyan is a strong coffee and so on a medium roast it still has lots of character. The Blue Mountain variety is based on the Jamaican Blue Mountain strain and tastes like a blend of something like 75 parts Kenya and 25 parts Jamaican

House Blend organic Fairtrade

A fine blend of pure arabicas, giving a complex smooth fairly mild flavour

Guatemalan blend organic Fairtrade

with Peru, creamy with a fine delicate tang

GERSON COFFEE

This is a specialist coffee for medical use only. It is always organic and always ground medium fine in one kg packs.

People buy this sort of coffee for home roasting, but it needs skill. Domestic roasters are available but can be tricky. It is possible to roast by hand in an oven or frying pan and most of our green coffee customers are people of North African descent who traditionally do this.

The table gives the base price per kilo before discounts are calculated. Orders can be mixed. All coffee origins mentioned on our price lists are normally available unroasted. As you move to checkout you will see a box marked special instructions. Please specify your specific order there.
