Introduction. These pages are written as email briefings to INK editors, many of whom are not concerned with high politics. (Some INK magazines are about green issues, some about personal development issues, most are normally uninterested in the goings on of the political elite). You can go on the email newsletter by emailing inkchair@pro-net.co.uk  It is based on information flowing in through email newsletters, mainstream British papers, UK, German and CNN TV channels.

I try to observe the following principles:

1. Hard, verifiable facts published in the mainstream corporate press or academic media are probably true. 2. However facts can be manipulated and distorted, by repetition or, later on, by omission when they are uncomfortable for the corporate line. Hence we may need to be reminded of them.

3. We live in a connected world, in global politics our primary moral responsibility is as citizens of the world. 5. It is not possible to use a simple social/political theory to predict human behaviour. History is replete with individuals eg Gorbachev who have reversed their own and their nation's course.

Bin Laden: the doubts mount.

Bin Laden supports the attacks but this does not prove he initiated them or organised the details. The attacks took place on the eleventh anniversary of the New World Order speech of George Bush senior. This would point to the US militias. An outlone scenario illustrated by known facts of how the militias could be in an alliance with Al Quaida.

Grounds for optimism.
In the first days after the terrorist attacks, western leaders showed restraint. I argued that there could now be a long overdue review of western foreign policy. This piece anticipated Tony Blair's famous battle for justice speech. I still believe there is hope, but reason is under sustained attack by the warmongers in Washinton and Tel Aviv.
